ELEVEN SPORTS PARTNERS WITH PORTUGUESE OPERATOR NOWO

We are proud to announce that global sports provider ELEVEN SPORTS has agreed a carriage deal with Portuguese telecommunications operator NOWO.

The carriage agreement means that NOWO will distribute ELEVEN SPORTS’ channels in Portugal, guaranteeing access for fans to the premium action on ELEVEN SPORTS.

AreaMedia has been closely involved in and contributed to the realization of the partnership between ELEVEN SPORTS and NOWO.

The partnership between ELEVEN and NOWO, which introduces new ways for fans to access live sport in Portugal, follows the announcement of ELEVEN’s entry into the market with the acquisition of LIVE and EXCLUSIVE rights to all matches from two of the most prestigious club football competitions in the world, the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga. As is the case in other markets, ELEVEN will continuously look to increase its rights portfolio in sports that serve dedicated fans.

Today’s announcement supports ELEVEN SPORTS’ global strategy to reach fans everywhere, providing increased access and flexible viewing options.

“We’re delighted to partner with NOWO to serve Portuguese football fans with our award-winning style of fan-first coverage.” said Danny Menken, Group Managing Director, ELEVEN SPORTS“Portugal is one of the most passionate football countries in the world. We know there is a significant hunger for world class football and working with NOWO will help us to make our premium action accessible for dedicated fans across the country.”

“This is a very important step that asserts NOWO as a decisive player in the sports market, allowing all Portuguese fans to access great sports content”, said Miguel Venâncio, Chief Executive Officer NOWO. “The partnership follows our strategy to increase our penetration in the market, delivering new ways to access to premium content.”

ELEVEN’s UEFA Champions League deal includes 138 matches per season, from the final qualifying round and group stages to the final. It also includes the UEFA Super Cup – the annual tie between the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.

The agreement with LaLiga includes every match from Spain’s top flight.

NOWO and ELEVEN will give the fans access to some of the world’s biggest clubs and best players on ELEVEN SPORTS, including Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, Mo Salah, Antoine Greizmann, Kevin De Bruyne and every Real Madrid game featuring five-time UEFA Champions League winner, Portugal captain and local hero, Cristiano Ronaldo.

ELEVEN SPORTS’ acquisition of UEFA Champions League and LaLiga rights bolsters the platform’s offering across its markets. ELEVEN SPORTS already has rights to LaLiga in the UK, Poland, Belgium and Luxembourg; Serie A in Italy, Poland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Taiwan; Premier League in Taiwan; Formula One in Poland; UFC in Belgium and Luxembourg; NBA in Belgium, Luxembourg, Singapore and Taiwan; and NFL in Belgium and Poland.
